Der Forschungs-Mittwoch dreht sich um die Gewinnung und Verwendung von Pigmenten und Farbstoffen in indigenen Gemeinschaften Kolumbiens. Eine interdisziplinäre Studie verbindet ethnografische Forschung, historische Referenzen und partizipative Methoden, um die tief verwurzelte Verbindung zwischen materieller Kultur und Identität zu untersuchen. Der Schwerpunkt der Studie liegt auf der Zusammenarbeit mit den Gemeinschaften und der Wiederbelebung ihres Wissens. Sie steht im Einklang mit dekolonialen Forschungsansätzen und leistet einen Beitrag zur Erhaltung des kulturellen Erbes. Die Feldforschung basiert auf ersten Erfahrungen mit traditionellen Färbepraktiken in einer Murui-Gemeinschaft und dient sowohl als Machbarkeitstest als auch als Grundlage für die Konzeption des nächsten sechsmonatigen Feldforschungsaufenthalts, der von November 2025 bis Ende Mai 2026 geplant ist.

We present an interdisciplinary study on the extraction and use of pigments and dyes among indigenous Colombian communities. It integrates ethnographic research, historical references, and participatory methodologies to explore the deep-rooted connection between material culture and identity. The study’s emphasis on community collaboration and knowledge revitalization and it aligns with decolonial research approaches reinforcing the contribution to cultural heritage conservation. The fieldsworks are based on a first experience into traditional dyeing practices among a Murui community serving both as a feasibility test and as foundation for the construction of the next six-month site planned from November 2025 to the end of May 2026. 
The topics covered will include the issues underlying the project, the methodology and the objectives planned for the six-month fieldwork period.
