SOAPBOX 2026 - Nordli / Loup -Havnetaler
Nordli/Loup(NO/CH) - Havnetaler
Havnetaler can be translated both as “Harbour Tales” and “the Harbour speaker.” In this project, the Havnetaler is a storyteller — a figure that takes the form of living creatures across different times and beings, carrying stories to those who are willing to listen.
The duo craft an immersive musical experience that bridges the worlds of electronic and acoustic sound. Through the interplay of voice, bass, and a rich orchestration of soundscapes and effects, their music becomes the voice of the Havnetaler, guiding the listener into dreamlike and introspective universes.
Drones, sound textures, and Norwegian poetry unfold slowly, evoking shifting sonic worlds and layered narratives. The bass transforms — first into a lute, then a bell, and finally a foghorn — echoing the many shapes assumed by the storyteller. The voice settles over an icy soundscape, at times evoking a mechanical, industrial realm, and at others the vastness and silence of nature.
The music plays with the contrast between acoustic and mechanical perception — an allegory of our post-industrial world, suspended between the longing for open spaces and the pull of digital modernity, where the Havnetaler continues to speak to those who choose to listen.
